In Memory of Pat Oliphant

SANTA FE, NM July 13, 2026 — The Firm joins all of Santa Fe and the rest of the world in mourning the passing of Patrick Oliphant today. Pat’s daily editorial cartoons were published in more than 500 newspapers around the world, distilling politics and skewering presidents and powerbrokers from LBJ to Trump. The New York Times in 1990 called him “the most influential cartoonist now working.” Pat was also a brilliant writer, painter, and sculptor. In honor of Pat, Sky Cinema will be showing Bill Banowski’s documentary film A Savage Art: The Life & Cartoons of Pat Oliphant for a week starting on Friday, July 17, 2026.
